Teodoro’s Story

“Losing a loved one is heartbreaking no matter what the nature of the relationship is or the distance in between. Mourning the loss of my beloved dad and on top of that, to murder, is a compounded pain and grief. As a California resident, dealing with my father’s death in Anchorage, I was greeted virtually by warmth and care by VFJ. They served as a resource for me, as I had to make difficult arrangements that I never thought I would have to make. It brought so much comfort knowing that I had people in Anchorage who were coming alongside me offering support and they continue to. What a beautiful organization that celebrates and honors those lost in the most tragic ways and is an ever-present support to their loved ones. With so much darkness and sadness surrounding loss from homicide, VFJ is a bright light. I have never been to Alaska, but I look forward to the day that I do visit and can see my father’s name in the Victim’s Memorial. Thank you, VFJ for your support and how you have shown me so much kindness throughout the most painful happening in life.”
